MDF/HDF Production Line

The Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. It is made up of separated fibres, but can be used as a building material similar in application to plywood. MDF Production line can be divided into two types: multi-layer press and continuous press. The multi-layer press can produce 8-25mm thick, and the continuous press can produce thin plates of 2-6mm and any thickness. Provide 4 feet, 6 feet and other multi-standard overall solutions.

What machines are required to install MDF Production Line?

Raw Material → Drum Chipper → Vibrating Scerrn → Preheating Disgester

→ Refiner → Fibre Drying section → Mechanical Forming Machine → Hot Press  → Cooling Line → Sanding Section → Packing

Raw material

1.Raw Material

Logs, harvesting and processing residues can be used to recycle old waste wood and non-wood raw materials such as bamboo, bagasse, wheat straw and other plant cellulose. The content of plant cellulose is more than 30%, and the moisture content is controlled at 40%~60%. Foliage, preferably single species.

Drum Chipper

2.Drum Chipper

Drum chipper/disc chipper, which cuts raw materials into wood chips of certain specifications. Qualified wood chips: length 16-30mm, width 15-25mm, thickness 3-5mm, uniform size.

Vibrating Screen

3.Vibrating Screen

Sorting wood chips, continue to cut the big ones to the required size.

Digester Machine

4.Digester Machine

The fibers are easier to separate, reducing power consumption, shortening the separation time, and increasing the plasticity of fiber raw materials. Cooking pressure 0.8-1.2Mpa, temperature 160-180 degrees Celsius, time 3-5min.

Fiber Preparation section

5.Fiber Preparation section

Thermal grinder grinds into fibers. Molten paraffin or other waterproofing agent is fed into and mixed with the fiber, and the adhesive is transported through the pipeline under a certain pressure to the fiber discharge pipe of the heat refiner to fully mix with the fiber.

The amount of paraffin wax applied is 1-2%, and the amount of sizing medium density board is 8-12%.

fibre Drying section 6. Fibre Drying section

The hot air transports the wet fiber from the dryer duct to the cyclone separator, the moist air is separated from the fiber, and the fiber is dried to the moisture content required by the process

Moisture content after sizing and before drying: 50%~60%, after drying 8~12%,Drying medium temperature 120~180℃

Drying outlet temperature: 50-70°C,Air velocity 20-30m/s.

Mechanic mat forming machine

7.Mechanic mat forming machine

The material is thrown by the throwing roller and falls evenly onto the conveyor belt of the paving line. Process requirements: uniform and stable density, consistent thickness, with a certain degree of compactness, to ensure sufficient thickness and size specifications.

Hot Press

8.Hot Press Machine

Under the action of pressure and temperature, after a certain period of time, the slab is pressed into the density required by the process to become a raw board. There are multi-layer presses and continuous presses for hot presses.

Four stages of hot pressing process: ① slab air discharge ② temperature conduction ③ pressurization to the specified thickness ④ pressure relief and exhaust to shape

Cooling Line

9.Cooling Line

The temperature of the board after hot pressing is high, and the heat is not easy to dissipate when stacked directly. Need to be cooled to below 60°C before stacking or processing.

Sanding Section

10.Sanding Section

After cooling the raw board for 24~72 hours, sand it, sand off the pre-cured layer on the board surface.

Capacity:200000-500000

Cutting Width:≤2950mm

Cutting length:≤7500mm

Cutting height:≤230mm

packing

11.Packing

Then after inspection, grading, and stacking, it is sent to the warehouse by forklift.

Advantages of MDF Board Production Line

Consistency: MDF Production Line is manufactured in a controlled environment, which ensures that the product is uniform in density, thickness, and strength.

Cost-effective: The use of wood fibers as raw material is cheaper than solid wood, making MDF  a cost-effective alternative to solid wood.

Versatility: MDF Production Line can be easily cut, shaped, and routed to create a variety of furniture, cabinetry, and decorative items.

Smooth surface: The surface of MDF Production Line is smooth and uniform, making it easy to paint, veneer, or laminate.

High strength: MDF Production Line has high strength and stiffness, making it ideal for applications that require structural support.

Environmental friendly: MDF Production Line can use recycled wood fibers and other environmentally friendly raw materials, making it a sustainable option.

Reduced waste: The MDF Production Machine process generates little waste, and any waste produced can be reused in the manufacturing process.

Understanding the Different Types of MDF Production Line Manufacturing

There are various types of machinery involved in MDF Production Line Manufacturing, each serving a specific purpose:

  1. Material Handling Systems Material handling systems are responsible for transporting wood fibers to different processing stages. They include conveyors, hoppers, and storage silos.

  2. Pressing Machinery Presses play a vital role in compressing wood fibers and resin into dense sheets. Hydraulic and mechanical presses are commonly used in MDF manufacturing.

  3. Drying and Finishing Lines Drying and finishing lines are essential for removing moisture and applying coatings to MDF boards. These lines can significantly impact the final product's quality.

Advanced Techniques for MDF Production Line

1.Innovations in Raw Materials One of the cornerstones of advanced MDF Press Line is the use of innovative raw materials. Manufacturers now employ not only wood fibers but also alternative sources like bamboo, bagasse, and even recycled wood. These materials offer increased sustainability and can impart unique properties to the final product.

2.Enhanced Fiber Processing Advanced MDF Press Line incorporates enhanced fiber processing techniques. These processes involve refining the wood fibers to a finer degree, resulting in a smoother, denser, and more consistent board. Fiber refinement technology has come a long way, allowing for greater control over the final product's quality.

3.Improved Binder Formulations The binders used in MDF production have seen significant improvements. New formulations are not only environmentally friendly but also provide better bonding and moisture resistance. This innovation ensures that advanced MDF can withstand a wide range of environmental conditions.

4.Precision Pressing Precision is key in advanced MDF production. Cutting-edge machinery and technology are employed to ensure that the boards are pressed with unparalleled accuracy. This precision results in boards that are flat, uniform, and free from defects.

5.Cutting-Edge Surface Finishing Advanced MDF production extends to surface finishing. Techniques like digital printing and embossing can create textures and patterns that mimic natural wood, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the final product.

FAQ of MDF Flooring Production Line

1.What is MDF/HDF flooring?

MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) and HDF (High-Density Fiberboard) are engineered wood products made from wood fibers and resin. They are commonly used as a base material for flooring.

2.What is an MDF Production line?

An MDF flooring production line is a series of machines and equipment used to manufacture MDF Flooring Line Products from wood fibers and resin.

3.What are the components of an MDF Production line?

A typical MDF Flooring Production Line consists of several machines, including a fiber preparation system, a fiber drying system, a fiber blending system, a forming machine, a pre-press machine, a hot press machine, a sanding machine, and a coating machine.

4.How does an MDF Production line work?

Wood fibers are prepared, dried, and blended with resin. The mixture is then formed into panels using a forming machine and pre-pressed to remove excess moisture. The panels are then placed in a hot press to form the MDF/HDF flooring product. After the pressing, the flooring is sanded, coated, and prepared for packaging.
