(1) Resin Preparation System

The resin preparation system is a complete set of equipment for resin synthesis, blending, storage, and transportation. It primarily produces urea resin + melamine resin + phenolic resin.

  • Urea + Melamine Resin (Surface Resin)Used for impregnating decorative papers and wear-resistant papers. Characteristics: good gloss, wear-resistant, stain-resistant, transparent, high hardness, and visually appealing board surface.

  • Phenolic Resin (Core Resin)Used for impregnating multi-layer kraft papers. Characteristics: strong adhesion, high temperature resistance, fire and moisture resistance, high strength, and no delamination.

(2) Resin Mixing System

This system is used to mix the main resin with various additives in specified proportions, ensuring consistent viscosity, temperature control, and homogenization for uniform resin supply to the impregnation line. This system directly influences the uniformity of impregnation, roller clogging, foam formation, delamination, and surface stability.

The resins for surface paper and core paper must be mixed separately. The automatic resin mixing system solves quality issues in traditional manual mixing, such as uneven mixing, unstable viscosity, poor filtration, and temperature instability.

(3) Surface Paper/Core Paper Impregnation Line

The impregnation line is a crucial step in HPL production, directly affecting the quality of the boards in terms of bubbling, delamination, warping, and surface quality.

  • Excess Resin: Causes bubbling, blistering, and whitening of the surface during hot pressing.

  • Insufficient Resin: Causes delamination, poor strength, and peeling.

  • Insufficient Drying: Causes paper adhesion, mold growth, and deterioration during storage.

  • Excessive Drying: Causes premature resin curing, leading to poor adhesion during hot pressing.

For surface paper/decorative paper, a secondary impregnation line using urea + melamine resin is employed. Thin HPL only requires surface impregnation, while thicker compact boards use both top and bottom layers.

For core paper/kraft paper, a primary impregnation line with phenolic resin is used, and the number of layers is selected based on the product thickness.

(4) Heat Transfer Oil Boiler (Optional)

Provides a heat source for the impregnation line, typically used for the secondary impregnation line for decorative paper, reducing the generation of black spots compared to direct natural gas combustion. It can also serve as the heat source for single-layer HPL press machines.

(5) Single-Layer/Multilayer Hot Press

The single-layer or multilayer hot press is the most important piece of equipment in the HPL production process. It uses high temperature and pressure to crosslink and cure the resin on multi-layer impregnated papers, forming high-density, high-strength, fire-resistant panels. Most manufacturers use multilayer hot presses for HPL production, while a few use single-layer presses (with lower output).

  • Minimal temperature difference on the heat plates, ensuring uniform color and pattern across the board surface.

  • Multiple layers can be processed simultaneously, improving efficiency and capacity.

(6) Heat Exchange System

A closed, pressurized pipeline system that heats water above its saturation boiling point, forming 150-180°C high-temperature liquid, which is then circulated to heat the press plates in hot presses. This is the mainstream precise temperature control solution for HPL presses.

Advantages:

  • Extremely uniform temperature control, with a heat plate temperature difference ≤ ±1°C, ensuring consistent board temperature and avoiding color variations, warping, or deformation, greatly improving flatness.

  • Smooth and controllable heating/cooling process, with uniform curing and gradual cooling during pressure retention, reducing cracking, blistering, and delamination.

  • More thorough resin crosslinking, ensuring even density, wear resistance, fire resistance, and stronger structural stability.

  • Energy-efficient, with a closed-loop cycle and no steam loss, resulting in a much higher thermal efficiency than steam.

  • Linear stability of pressure and temperature, perfectly matched to HPL’s long-cycle hot pressing process.

(7) Steam Boiler

The steam boiler continuously generates high-temperature, high-pressure saturated steam to supply the overheated water system and provide heat for the hot presses. It is characterized by fast heating, stable steam pressure, fully automated operation, and a closed-loop condensate recovery system.

(8) Cutting Saw Line

Cuts the pressed product to the desired size.

  • High cutting precision with minimal dimensional error.

  • Smooth, clean cutting edges without chipping or delamination.

  • High-speed operation with high automation.

  • No scratches on the board surface, preserving the finish.

  • Dust collection system to ensure cleanliness and environmental friendliness.

  • Flexible and adjustable, capable of switching between various sizes.

  • Reduces labor and minimizes waste.

  • Straight edges for smoother subsequent sanding, laminating, and bonding processes.

(9) Sanding Machine

For roughening the back surface of thin HPL to improve adhesion and correcting thickness tolerance to optimize flatness.

(10) Film Laminate Machine

This production line is used to apply transparent high-gloss/matte PET protective films. It automatically collects, cuts, and presses the film, protecting the HPL surface from dirt and scratches, and facilitating packaging and transportation without the boards sticking together.


(11) Dust Extraction Line

Uses a negative pressure pulse dust collector to centrally collect wood and resin dust generated during processes like cutting and sanding, then filters and purifies the dust before discharging clean air. The collected dust is packaged for disposal.

Alternating ture in&out of steam and cold water can heat and coll hot press plate,pressure platechannel layout is reasonable, so that speed up the hot plate heating and uniform its temperature. Steam system adopts metal hose connection, synchoronous mechanism adopts the gear rack type, so that the movable beam go up steadily, with automatic tempature measuring device, hydraulic system adopts vane pump and high pressure plunger pump with large flow and low noise, meeting the technical requirements of the closing time and rate of pressure rise speed.
